The journey to develop my sustainable swimwear began in September 2023 in Portugal, as I set out to find a suitable manufacturer. From the numerous contacts with a total of around 25-30 manufacturers, I chose to visit six in person.
Sustainability has always been a priority for me in the production of my swimwear, both in terms of working conditions and environmental impact. Living in Germany, with communication primarily online, open and transparent communication was also crucial.
After several days of intensive visits and impressive impressions, I took a week to consciously decide on a manufacturer. Each visit revealed the best aspects of the manufacturers, from showrooms to consulting and design rooms, to production facilities and offices. The variety of impressions didn't make my decision easy.
In the end, surprisingly, my choice fell on a manufacturer from whom I initially didn't have high expectations, as they didn't reach out frequently beforehand – they simply had too much on their plate. But after the visit, it was immediately clear to me that this was the right choice. It once again demonstrated the importance of listening to one's gut feeling.
